Adolescent Substance Abuse / Early Intervention Group
- The early intervention or “Life Skills” group addresses issues that pre-teens and adolescents face in their daily living, including drug use, gangs, delinquent activities and other potentially dangerous stressors. The group meets weekly and has a family education component that assists the families in keeping their children/adolescents on the right life course. A clinician will schedule an intake evaluation with the child and guardian after receiving a referral form. A master’s level clinician and child psychiatrist conduct the intake evaluation and continue to manage the teen’s care for the duration of the program. We collaborate with family, school and community agencies to plan strategies and interventions which support the adolescents’ safe level of functioning in their home and community settings.
