ABC's of Parenting
- The ABC’s of Parenting Program is designed to support the success of children in school while offering positive parenting techniques for parents and caregivers of children ages 3 ½ through 6 years of age. During the program, families learn how to: establish discipline through family rules, rewards, negotiation and alternatives to spanking and yelling; praise their children and themselves; express anger and stress in a healthy manner that does not harm their children and themselves; establish personal empowerment to make healthy choices and develop problem solving skills; and promote school success through relationships with teachers. Parents and children meet concurrently in separate groups with trained facilitators. Sessions are about 2-hours in duration and take place in the early evening. Hot dinner is provided, as well as gifts and $95 to in Pathmark Gift Certificates to each caregiver for completion of the program.

- For students interested in accelerating toward graduation and intend to properly follow course sequences. Several required courses will be offered for full credit. Students can only be offered one accelerate course during the summer which will meet 4 hours/day. Orientation will be held July 2; the program runs from July 7 through Aug. 8. Adolescent Inpatient Services
- Carrier Clinic offers inpatient, residential and educational services to adolescents, ages 13 through 18, who suffer from emotional, psychiatric, behavioral and/or addiction illnesses. Adolescent Substance Abuse / Early Intervention Group
- The early intervention or “Life Skills” group addresses issues that pre-teens and adolescents face in their daily living, including drug use, gangs, delinquent activities and other potentially dangerous stressors. The group meets weekly and has a family education component that assists the families in keeping their children/adolescents on the right life course. A clinician will schedule an intake evaluation with the child and guardian after receiving a referral form. A master’s level clinician and child psychiatrist conduct the intake evaluation and continue to manage the teen’s care for the duration of the program. We collaborate with family, school and community agencies to plan strategies and interventions which support the adolescents’ safe level of functioning in their home and community settings.

Adolescent Substance Abuse / Full Day Partial Hospitalization
- Academic education is provided as approved by the home school district. Typically for teens deemed unable to be maintained in their schools, with significant substance use levels and histories, and who may have significant behavioral problems. Helps the teen return to their community with support and continuity, and can also help prevent hospitalization by stabilizing behaviors. We collaborate with family, school and community agencies to plan strategies and interventions which support the adolescents’ safe level of functioning in their home and community settings. Adolescent Substance Abuse / Half Day/After school Program
- For adolescents who are able to function in school, yet needs the structured support of a program several times a week to address their substance use as well as behavioral issues. Adolescents in the program receive psychiatric evaluations, medication monitoring, urine screening, psychological evaluation, individual and family therapy, parent support groups, skill-based group therapy, substance abuse education, creative arts therapy, step-down model and an aftercare/relapse program. The program institutes a behavior modification system that encourages positive behavior during the program as well as in the home. Adult Basic Education
- ABE is designed for persons who are least educated and lacking the most basic educational skills. Program instruction focuses on basic communication, computation, work readiness, civic and everyday living skills.
